The 2010 Virgin London Marathon was won today by Tsegaye Kebede, taking the title in the men’s race and Russian runner Liliya Shobukhova who took the women’s title, completing the race in a time of 2:22:00. However the competitor I was watching closely was my sister Liz Overs who completed the grueling 26 miles in just over 4hrs raising more than £700 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research a fantastic time, achieved thanks to months and months of very dedicated and intensive training.
Beaming for the camera and hugging daughter Harriet, Liz said after the race “that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, I’m so pleased to have done it”.
It would be great to hear your stories of friends and family that competed today or indeed from those of you that competed! Congratulations to all!
