Welcome to Civicboom's widget demo! This is an example of how to use the widget. By uploading a request you can ask your community for specific feedback on a particular issue, or footage of an event that you want to cover on your local news website for example.

How do you create a request?
First, sign in before hitting the "Post a call-to-action request" link (which by the way we have created as a link by clicking on the "insert link" button above. This means you can also link to other sites or pages in support of your request).

If you have an image supporting your request, upload it. This is optional - there is a default image that supports all call-to-requests, so if you don't have an image (or the time to source one) simply leave this blank.

Alternatively you can search for a relevant image under Creative Commons License on Flikr. Just make sure you credit the creator.

Where do you write the request? Outline your call-to-action in the "Write your request" text box. You can also insert a video as a link from Google Video or YouTube if it supports your call-to-action request. The video could be example of what you're looking for, or a direct to camera "shout out". It's up to you.

What about the deadline? When you've finished creating your request set an expiry date so your community know's when it's due by. You do this by clicking on the calendar icon.

At this point, you're nearly done. Just click the Creative Commons license (it's set to Attribution 3.0 License which means others can share your request, pushing potential contributors back to your call-to-action).

The final part of the request is to tick the "Yes!" button. By doing this you are confirming that you have the rights to upload the content.

When you're all done click "Publish request". If you've got a widget (which you can get from your private profile page) the call-to-action will automatically appear in that on your website. It'll also appear on Civicboom list of requests, your public profile - and it'll also be sent out as an update to all your Followers.

So what's stopping you? Start booming now!
